Could this be the week? Seems like we ask that question every week and since week 6 the answer has been no. The news on the foot is good and Jason Garrett has said that Murray wouldn’t necessarily have to practice fully before returning to action. There is no definitive word on whether or not he will play so this is up in the air for at least one more week.
And the frustration goes on for Demarco Murray owners. It appears that he will not play on Thanksgiving and those wise enough to have handcuffed with Felix Jones may reap the rewards in Week 12. Felix Jones has been downgraded after missing practice today. With the Cowboys playing the Redskins on Thursday and so many questions you are going to pay close attention if you want to use any Cowboys RB this week.
The Cowboys haven’t been very honest about Murray’s foot injury. At first the diagnosis, at least the one shared with the public, led everyone to believe this would entail a week or two of recovery and their lead back would return to action. Well it’s looking more like five weeks with no guarantees thereafter.
Anyone else getting the feeling that the Cowboys haven’t been forthcoming about the injury to Demarco Murray. He hasn’t even practiced since going down with a foot injury in week 6. It’s a frustrating situation for owners who invested a first or early second round pick in Murray. The Cowboys get to face a sad Eagles team with a terrible coach and a lack of heart this week. It would have been a golden opportunity for Murray.
Demarco Murray looks unlikely to play in Week 9. That leaves a banged up Felix Jones, who hasn’t exactly lived up fantasy football aspirations this year or in the past. The Dallas Morning News is reporting that Jones continues to struggle with injuries but will suit up for Sunday’s contest against the Falcons. He went 13 rushes for 19 yards against the Giants. Philip Tanner may not start but he might get the bulk of the work. The local Fox affiliate in Dallas is saying it’s a 50/50 chance that he is ready to play in Philadelphia in Week 10.
Demarco Murray isn’t quite ready to play. According to reports the Cowboys lead back will be given another week to recover from the foot injury sustained in week 6. That means that Felix Jones should start vs. the Giants and Philip Tanner will play a role as well.
This has to drive Demarco Murray owners crazy. Just as they began to have thoughts of grandeur watching Murray’s fantasy points accumulate over the first half against the Ravens and imagining what Murray could do against the Panthers in week 7, Murray owners learn that he’s out of the game. The good news is that there is no structural damage to the foot, it’s a sprain. The bad news is that he will almost surely miss a tasty matchup against a terrible run defense in week 7.
