NEWS
The Washington Redskins have added former All Pro Left Tackle Jamaal Brown their roster. Brown missed all of 2009 with hip and hernia injuries but represents a nice upgrade for a Washington Redskins offense that drafted massive and promising LT Trent Williams out of Oklahoma and traded for Donovan McNabb. Jamaal Brown will likely play RT for the Skins.
VIEWS
Chris Burke of Fanhouse thinks this is a very good move and points out that it has implications beyond one position. It means Hicks is likely to move from Tackle to Guard where he is better suited to play.
According to Jason Reid of the Washington Post, the Redskins offense was much improved before this move.
There is a lot of sentiment that this could be a bounce back year for Portis. This move bolsters that possibility. Mike Clay of FantasyDC.com likes Portis this year as well. He predicts 279 rushes and over 1,000 yards. And, guess what? Portis even said he is going to practice and try this year! Here is the Fantasydc.com Redskins analysis.
FANTASY FOOTBALL SPIN
This is a great move for the Redskins. It will improve their line, give McNabb more time, and if Brown is healthy and fits the zone blocking scheme if Kyle Shanahan (two valid questions), the Redskins running game could be potent. McNabb must be breathing a sigh of relief. With more time, it won’t just be the worms in Fedex field that have to worry, it will be the defensive backfields.
