Matt Forte’s stock in mock drafts has taken a little bit of hit with the possibility of holdout looming over him.  Adam Schefter had some good news (or speculation as it were) for Forte owners.  The NFL insider thinks the Bears will loosen the purse strings by the July 16th deadline whereby teams can extend players they have slapped with the franchise tag.

This would be fantastic news for Forte owners who have to be sweating at the chance that Forte will hold out on top of the addition of Michael Bush.  Running backs who hold out usually get injured and/or disappoint.  That’s just the way it is.  A healthy Forte may not produce as well as he did last year when he was healthy and on a great run, but with his combination of rushing and receiving prowess he can still produce as a low end RB1.

Right now Matt Forte has an ADP of 16 on and he is the 8th RB off the board.  We have seen his ADP as low as 20 this off season but it seems like there is more optimism now that a deal will get done and that is reflected in him moving up to 16.  There is a chance that will go higher after he signs.
