Last night in the Eagles first preseason game their starting QB Michael Vick bashed his throwing hand off an offensive lineman’s helmet on the follow through of an incomplete pass. It looked bad at that moment but fortunately X-Rays came back negative and Vick is expected to practice as early as Saturday.
FANTASY FOOTBALL SPIN
This particular incident isn’t going to lead to anything long term and shouldn’t effect his fantasy ranking. It underscores, however, Vick’s propensity for injury. He’s small for a QB in every way and you just get the feeling that he will never make it through an entire season healthy and without missing multiple games. That is what should scare you away and lead you to take Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady, Drew Brees, Cam Newton, and Matthew Stafford ahead of Vick, who went as the first or second QB in the majority drafts last year.
Another thing that you should weigh in your decision to draft or pass on Vick is that the team’s beat writers have noted that Vick has had several very good days at camp but has also had several really bad days passing. You simply don’t hear that about other top QBs in the NFL in training camp.
