Trent Richardson is reportedly ahead of schedule in recovering from his second knee surgery since February. What is most concerning is that it’s on the same knee, the left knee, that Richards had operated on in February. He hasn’t played a game as a pro yet and he already has a problem knee. He’s not going to play in any preseason games but the Browns have not ruled out a week 1 return.
Rotoworld.com believes his ADP in the top of the third round is too optimistic. They would be most comfortable with Richardson in the fifth.
NFL.com has Richardson ranked as the 11th RB overall. Of their five experts Adam Rank has him highest at #10 but they are all between 1 0 and 12.
FANTASY FOOTBALL SPIN
In the expert draft at Fantasy Football Fest I took Trent Richardson with 4th pick of the third round and was quite happy. Richardson is going to be a workhorse back and while you shouldn’t count on much production from him until week 3 or even week 4 he is a rare commodity – a possible 300 carry back. There is absolutely no way he lasts until the fifth round. We’re comfortable taking Richardson anytime in the third round. In the expert draft I selected Chris Johnson the first round, Adrian Peterson in the second, and as mentioned, I snagged Richardson in the third. In a league that starts two RBs and a flex I really like that start to the draft.
Even though my draft was started with three RBs, my starting receivers ended up as Dex Bryant, Brandon Lloyd, and Stevie Johnson and my QBs are Tony Romo and Philip Rivers. Fred Davis and Owen Daniels round out my roster at TE.
Richardson has some challenges in that the passing game is a giant question mark and until the Browns prove they can make teams pay for stacking the box Richardson is going to face eight man fronts. He’s fallen from a late first round ADP to early third and that feels about right to us.
