This injury doesn’t seem to be anything to worry about.  Dwyer is coming off back-to-back 100 yard games and he’s looked very strong.  He downplayed the quad injury after it was mentioned by Steelers HC Mike Tomlin.  Dwyer indicated that it won’t hold him back.

It will be very interesting to see what will happen moving forward.  The Steelers should have Rashard Mendenhall and Isaac Redman back next week.  Add those two to backfield that includes not just Dwyer but Chris Rainey and you could have about three too many chefs in the kitchen.  We still believe that Dwyer is the back to own on the Steelers.  He’s finally doing what our radio host Jim Day expected him to do before the season.  He’s the best back the Steelers have.

We’ll follow this closely to see if the Steelers tip their hand on how they are going to play against the Giants in Week 9.  The G-men have given up 100 yards to rushers in two consecutive weeks and Dwyer has an opportunity to run for his third 100 yards game in as many weeks.  He could also see his touches reduced sharply if the Steelers go back to Mendenhall.  That would be a mistake in our opinion.  Dwyer should be owned in all leagues and it’s a good time to shop him to see what you can get.

  1. What kind of return would I expect when trading Dwyer? I have Albert Morris, mcFadden. Could I get a BJGE? Type back?

  2. The problem there is trading at the same position. With the question marks that Dwyer still has, meaning the return of Mendenhall mostly, you will probably have to get an owner in dire need of an RB. The MJD owner for instance or someone who was banking on a flop and is short handed at RB now. So, I would look for that situation and get help at WR or even TE or QB.
