NEWS
Hakeem Nicks has been a disappointment to say the least. One of the tough choices many fantasy football owners had to make in the 2012 draft was Victor Cruz or Hakeem Nicks. No one thought that one option would be so clearly superior to the other. The good news for Nicks owners is that the knee swelling that has been keeping him out of practice is gone. The Giants expect Nicks to play on Sunday.
VIEWS
Footballguys.com (we can’t share a link since they are subscription service) has Nicks at #31 on their Week 10 WR rankings. They estimate 4 receptions for 60 yards.
CBS warns that the risk may be higher than the possible reward in starting Nicks. That may have their stance before the news that the swelling was down.
FANTASY FOOTBALL SPIN
The Bengals are in the top half of the league when it comes to defending the pass (and arrests) but they aren’t elite. They are surrendering 20 fantasy points per game against opposing wide receivers. The Giants offense will look to get on track after a couple sub par outings. A healthy Nicks playing close to his potential would be a big help to them and a relief to owners hoping he comes around before the fantasy football playoffs.
We look at him as a WR3 this week and have our fingers crossed. We’ve actually seen some questions from fantasy footballers wondering if they should release Nicks. NO WAY is what we say. He’s an elite receiver and you have to hold on to him in hopes he returns to form.
