NEWS:

The Packers passing game has enjoyed a changing of the guard this season with impending free agent Greg Jennings rendered useless due to a groin injury that required surgery.

Despite amassing just 12 catches for 78 yards and one TD on the season, Jennings is expected to return for the week 13 matchup with a struggling Minnesota secondary. He could be eased back into the passing rotation but could make an impact during the fantasy playoff weeks  and is a must add if an impatient owner sent him to the waiver wire.

FANTASY FOOTBALL SPIN:

The Green Bay passing offense is currently ranked 14th in passing offense averaging 242 YPG. The Aaron Rodgers led Packers attack ranks 2nd in the league in passing TDs (29) – only Drew Brees Saints have more with 31 TDs through the air. The emergence of 2nd year Kentucky alum Randall Cobb has kept the Packer offense high-flying as he and Jordy Nelson rank among the top 20 fantasy WRs through 11 games.

Jennings has been a model of consistency and a major red zone threat during his time in Green Bay.

Jennings expected return should only bolster Aaron Rodgers as a weekly must start but could render a struggling James Jones as bench fodder. Cobb will continue to dominate the slot and create matchup nightmares for opposing defense while Nelson and Jennings man the outside.  Provided he proves to 100% recovered, Jennings should vault back to borderline WR2 status once weeks 14-16 roll around.

In week 14 , the Packers face Detroit’s 12th ranked passing defense and in the all important week 16 they host a Titan defense that  ranks 27th against the pass. The 29-year-old vet could very easily somewhat redeem his lost fantasy season (potentially last one in Lambeau) with a few productive late season performances.
