Brandon LaFell was scheduled for an MRI today but no results have been disclosed. He’s listed as questionable for this week’s matchup against the Falcons who are surrendering just 18.6 fantasy points per game to opposing receivers. Only six teams are giving up fewer points per game.

FANTASY FOOTBALL SPIN

No receiver has had a very good year in Carolina. It’s a mess. maybe not a Philadelphia-esque mess, but questionable play calling and poor QB play have hurt Brandon LaFell and Steve Smith. They aren’t exactly free from blame. No one on the Panthers offense has lived up to expectations. Steve Smith seemed to benefit last week from being the only reliable target down field. Smith went for 5/120/1 but that was against the lowly Chiefs.

The Panthers played the Falcons in week 4 and Smith managed just 3 receptions for 52 yards. It’s looking unlikely that LaFell will play in Week 14. Louis Murphy should be the replacement but Steve Smith is the only receiver worth considering for a fantasy start. He’s a WR#3 at this point.
